Two-day webinar on Prospects for STEM Education

Aligarh: A two-day webinar beginning from October 13 on ‘Prospects for STEM Education in the 21st Century and contribution of women scientists in STEM’ will be held in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to mark the eventful centenary year of the university.

Organised by the APJ Abdul Kalam STEM ER Centre of AMU; the webinar will feature Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar 2020 awardees, AMU alumna and IIT Kanpur faculty member, Dr Bushra Ateeq and Prof Jyotimayee Dash (IACS, Kolkata).

Dr Bushra will speak on ‘Androgen deprivation therapy: The double edged sword in prostate cancer treatment’, while Prof Jyotimayee Dash will deliver a lecture on ‘Chemistry in biological systems.’

“AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor will deliver the welcome address. The two-day programme will have useful deliberations by Prof Anil K Pradhan (Ohio State University, USA), Prof Sultana N Nahar (Ohio State University, USA), Prof Qazi Mazhar Ali (Dean, Faculty of Science, AMU), Prof S Mazumdar (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), Prof Anuradha Godavarty (Florida International University, USA), Dr Arpita Amarnani (Centre for Excellence in Sustainable Development, Goa Institute of Management), Prof Ekram Khan (Dept of Electronics Engineering, AMU) and Dr Sabiha Parveen (Department of Chemistry, AMU),” said Prof Tauheed Ahmad, Director, APJ Abdul Kalam STEM ER Centre and Prof Farukh Arjmand, Co-Director, APJ Abdul Kalam STEM ER Centre.
