FDP on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Natural Language Processing’ inaugurated in KIIT
New Delhi: Five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Natural Language Processing’ organized virtually by The School of Computer Applications, KIIT Deemed to be University has inaugurated on 15th October. The Programme is sponsored by AICTE under the ATAL scheme.
Gracing the Inaugural Session as the Chief Guest, Prof. Esaú Villatoro Tello, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico, who is currently working at Idiap Research Institute, Martigny, Switzerland, spoke at length on the theme. In his insightful talk, he made a thorough analysis on how Artificial Intelligence can be utilised in Natural Language Processing.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC, KIIT-DU said that researchers should solve the real world problem through their research works. Prof Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, emphasized on the collaborative research work. As India is a multilingual country, it needs collaborative work among faculties across the states, he said. In her address, Prof. Veena Goswami, Director, School of Computer Applications, urged the students to attend FDP and apply the knowledge gained in their research work.
Dr. Satya Ranjan Dash, Associate Professor, School of Computer Applications gave the welcome address while Prof. Sadhna Sudershana of KIIT-DU proposed the vote of thanks.
During the five-day FDP, 14 sessions will be taken by eminent resource persons from premier institutes like IIT Patna, Jadavpur University and industries like Microsoft, and IQVIA RDS from India. Besides, it will have four resource persons from Mexico, Australia and Switzerland. The Chief Guest for the inaugural session, Prof. Esaú Villatoro Tello, is also a resource person in this FDP. As many as 200 participants joined from over 24 states, which include PG Scholars, Research Scholars and Faculties from NIT, IIT, IIIT and other premier institutes.
