Jamia Hamdard takes Further Strides In Innovation; awarded 4.5 Star Rating by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell

New Delhi: Jamia Hamdard a hub for research and innovations has been awarded 4.5 stars in the ratings for 2019-20 released by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

IIC is an initiative of the Ministry of Education and was established in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education. It aims to promote and advance innovative practices amongst higher educational institutions. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has established the ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The 4.5 golden stars rating has been awarded to Jamia Hamdard for undertaking various initiatives and activities prescribed by the Innovation Cell, MoE. Jamia Hamdard has received the top rating in the region for its vibrant innovative ecosystem. Since, its inception the University is carrying out various activities aimed at promoting the innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship by involving both the faculty and the students.

“It is a moment of great pride for us that we have been awarded such rating by MIC, Through our solution oriented methodology to education, we have been incessantly making strides to provide our students and faculties with an ecosystem where they can express their entrepreneurship skills”, says Vice-Chancellor, Prof Seyed Ehthesham Hasnain.

The different innovative initiatives and practices undertaken by the faculty were compiled and reported to the MIC’s portal from time to time. The innovative initiatives by Jamia Hamdard have been recognized by the Ministry’s Innovation Cell and can be found on their portal, adds Dr. Jawed Ahmed, Convenor IIC, Jamia Hamdard.

In order to get the ranking Jamia Hamdard fulfilled a criteria of three category scoring system developed by IIC, for determining and assessing the innovative performance of higher educational institutions across the country. The University had to effectively follow the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell prescribed calendar of activities. In addition, we were also required to take part in a series of MIC driven initiatives, which revolved around the promotion and development of entrepreneurship. The final factor which was to be satisfied for this rating was in regard to the institutions’ self-driven initiatives, where Jamia Hamdard had an edge over ensuring the active engagement of its students and faculties in innovation centred initiatives, says Prof. M. Afshar Alam, Dean and Incharge IIC, Jamia Hamdard.
