Committee to seek suggestions for electing University Court members in Donors Category
Aligarh: To conduct elections of 10 University Court members from among the ‘Donors’ of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU); a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor and it seeks suggestions, feedback, comments, inputs and views from the stakeholders of the donors category.
“Various web based platforms for conducting elections are available and there is a need to review and make amendments and necessary changes in the existing rules of election of this category. Changes will be made accordingly with suggestions of the members of the donors category,” said AMU Registrar, Mr Abdul Hamid (IPS).
He added that switching to new methods after suggestions will make the polling process more fair, transparent and smooth.
Since AMU donors are spread over various countries and different parts of India, the Court members in the Donors category were elected through postal ballots. The traditional method led to complaints and appeals demanding necessary changes.
