IIT Kanpur hosted TechTalk to find indigenous solution for Vascular Anaesthesiology &Cardiac Care
Kanpur: Dr.Subin Sukesan delivered the 3rd talk of the season 2 of the TechTalk series on ‘Domains identified for troubleshooting in Cardio-Thoracic Vascular Anaesthesiology, Cardiac Critical Care & Intervention Regenerative Pain Therapies’.
Dr. Subin Sukesan is an Additional Professor in the Dept of Anaesthesiology, PAIN Clinic & Intervention services at S.C.T.I.M.S.T., Trivandrum (an Institute of National Importance, Govt. of India). TechTalk series is the regular event organized by Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) IIT Kanpur with generous support from the Capri Global through its CSR initiative with an aim to bring key problems faced in the various industries among the students and researchers at IIT Kanpur. A product development support upto INR 2 Lakhs is also provided for the selected solutions proposed by the innovators through TechTalks.
Last year, SIIC IIT Kanpur started ‘Tech Talk’ as an initiative towards bridging the existing gap between industry experts (Technology buyer and user) and engineers (technology innovator). Tech Talk is a talk series event organized every month at IIT Kanpur where experts from industry and public administration are invited to highlight some of the key problems faced in the industry that can be solved with engineering, design and technology intervention.
Dr.Subin talked about the pantheon of problems that are afflicting healthcare in Cardio-Thoracic Vascular Anaesthesiology, Cardia Critical Care & Intervention Regenerative Pain Therapies’ in the country. He talked about the need of troubleshooting required using the Robotics in Cardiac Case scenarios, minimally invasive procedures Broncho/Thoraco/Lapro/Arthro-scopies, Ultrasonographic imaging Trans-Thoracic/Oesophageal, Intravascular Access & OT Tables, and Regenerative Pain Therapies Knee Joint Offloading Orthosis. He also emphasized that we require innovative and indigenized solutions to make affordable and accessible Instruments.
“Engineering and design students and faculty members from IIT Kanpur should come forward to build solutions to these problems and avail this opportunity to build great healthcare startups. I also appreciate Capri Global for supporting this innovative program from SIIC. We need more corporates supporting such initiatives.” opined Dr.Subin Sukesan.
The event received enthusiastic participation by the students, faculty members and startup community, not only from IIT Kanpur but from outside as well. Some very interesting and thought-provoking ideas were discussed such as the role of physics in understanding the cardiac health, and its challenges, etc.
“Knowing what problems to solve is the 1st step towards building the right kind of solutions. TechTalk is our way of bringing the validated problem statements to IIT Kanpur which helps in the pursuit of new startups and innovations by our students and faculty members,” says Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Professor In-charge, Innovation and Incubation, IIT Kanpur.
