JMI organises Expert Meet as part of UNFPA Sponsored Project ‘Upscaling of Adolescence Education Program in Madarsas of Bihar’
New Delhi: Adolescence Education Program in Madarsas of Bihar’ Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a two-day expert meet for developing Training Module for the Principals and Statement of Purpose (SOP) and Terms of Reference(TOR) for State Resource Centre(SRC) and Regional Resource Centres(RRCs) on 30th and 31st October,2020. It was organised as part of UNFPA sponsored project ‘Upscaling of Adolescence Education Program in Madarsas of Bihar’.
Consequent upon the success of UNFPA sponsored project entitled,’ Development of Adolescence Education programme for Madras Teachers of Bihar’, the Bihar Government
realized the need to upscale the project from upper primary to secondary level.
JMI along with Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad has once again been assigned to undertake the project in coordination with Bihar Madrasa Board, Patna. The role of JMI, in the second phase of the project, would remain pioneering as usual.
Significantly, the project field was earlier restricted to two districts of Bihar which has now been extended to all the thirty-eight districts of the state. In view of the magnanimity of the project, there is a need to develop resources at the state and district levels which could ensure proper coordination among the concerned stakeholders.
First day of the meet was dedicated to developing training module for the Heads of Madrasas running under the administrative control of Bihar state Madrasa Board. Prof. Aejaz Masih, the project director, while welcoming the participants, apprised them of the expectations of the meet.
Dr. Nadeem Noor, the Coordinator, UNFPA, Bihar chapter detailed about the genesis of the project. The two sessions of the day on ‘Discussion on Identifying Themes for Writing Module for Principals/Head of Madrasas’ and Finalisation of Course Outline for the Module of the
Principals were respectively chaired by Prof. M. Akhtar Siddiqui and Prof. Ilyas Husain.
Dr. Arshad Ikram Ahmad was the convener of the meet. Prof. Vinita Sirohi of NIEPA, Dr. Mohammad Zameer, the Principal DIET, Rajinder Nagar and Dr. Savita Kaushal & Dr. Sajjad Ahmad from JMI were the key Discussants.
The day 2 was dedicated to Institutional Planning for Resource Centres. Prof. Aejaz Masih, the project director, while welcoming the participants, apprised them of the expectations of the meet.
Dr. Nadeem Noor, the Coordinator, UNFPA, Bihar chapter shared the idea behind setting up of SRC and RRCs. Dr. Quazi Ferdaushi Islam, the convener of the meet set the tone for Statement of Purpose (SOP) and Term of Reference (TOR).
The session was chaired by Prof. Furqan Qamar and well attended by Prof. Sudesh Mukhopadh, Prof. S.M.I.A. Zaidi, Prof. K Biswal of NIEPA, Prof. Ilyas Husain and Dr Satya Bhushan of NCERT.
