Sterlite Power Winning Bentley System’s The Year In Infrastructure Awards 2020
New Delhi: Sterlite Power, a leading global power transmission player, has been awarded the prestigious “The Year In Infrastructure (YII) Awards 2020” by Bentley Systems in the Utilities and Communications category. Sterlite Power won this award for the deployment of a digital innovation called Sterlite BIM (Building Information Modeling) in PK Bari Substation in Tripura for its NER-II Transmission Limited project.
Sterlite BIM is a collaborative design workflow based on 3D and 4D BIM technology that Sterlite Power implemented in its NER-II Transmission project. The technology helped in the 3D/4D modeling of the PK Bari substation in Tripura that once operational, will enable delivery of reliable and green power to over 30 million people in north east India.
Apart from providing real time simulation of construction plan and progress of the substation over construction lifecycle, the BIM technology helped Sterlite Power in overcoming inefficiencies posed by conventional design and construction modeling methodologies. Adopting BIM 4D technology also helped in utilising virtual reality to further optimize the substation design within a tight schedule.
Commenting on this coveted award win, Mr. Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director, Sterlite Power said, “We are very happy to receive this prestigious award which reflects our commitment to deploy game changing innovations in the power transmission space. Be it the use of 4D BIM or the use of heli-cranes and drones, we are constantly raising the bar of project engineering excellence.”
The YII Awards 2020 is a flagship annual awards program constituted by Bentley Systems that honors the work of Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations throughout the world. 57 finalists from over 400 nominations across 60 countries were selected by independent jury panels.
In the Utilities and Communication category, Sterlite Power competed with IOB Technology from Johor, Malaysia and Qinghai Kexin Electric Power Design Institute from China. Highlights of this innovation can be accessed at Sterlite Power AI.
