India’s top 16 brightest minds battle it out in the grand finale of India Fact Quiz 2020 Championship
Mumbai: India Fact Quiz, India’s first ever digitally gamified quiz on data and facts on India is launching its grand finale today, with the regional finals kicking off this weekend. 16 semi-finalists from the North, South, East & West zones will compete in their respective zone’s regional final. The winners of each regional final will qualify as the top 4 national finalists and battle it out for the grand championship trophy and the title of India’s first Fact Champion.
Launched in February 2020, India Fact Quiz was conceptualized with the objective of challenging and correcting the biases of India’s youth and make them more aware of data and facts on India, around health, gender, population, environment climate and welfare. The championship, targeting youngsters between ages 17-25, is created as a launchpad to identify the brightest and most factful young minds of India. It launched with a nationwide online quiz contest, where, out of almost half a million participants, 4 semi-finalists were shortlisted from each zone and will compete in their respective regional finals starting this week.
The 16 semi-finalists have been selected from across tier 1, 2 & 3 cities of India, such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Bokaro Steel City, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bhadrak, Orai, Gorakhpur and Kota. They are students and young working professionals from diverse streams like medicine, public policy, climate & sustainability, engineering, management, computer science, economics, journalism and IT. They will be quizzed on their biases and awareness on topics like gender pay gap, urban and rural infrastructure, health and disease control, climate change and renewable energy, government schemes and policies, and even Covid-19 related topics.
The championship finals will be broadcast on Times NOW news channel on the following dates:
Regional finals (North & South): Sat, 21st November, 2020 & Sun, 22nd November, 2020 (repeat)
Regional finals (East & West): Sat, 28th November, 2020 & Sun, 29th November, 2020 (repeat)
National final: Sat, 5th December, 2020 & Sun, 6th December, 2020 (repeat)
