Cambridge University lauds National Education Policy of India and honours Union Education Minister for spearheading Education Reforms
Bathinda: The Cambridge Partnership for Education- Cambridge University, the world’s leading University, lauded the National Education Policy of India and honoured Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ for spearheading Education Reforms to build a coherent and resilient education system. Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was conferred with this honour by officials of Cambridge University in a virtual program organized in New Delhi. On this occasion, Prof. Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, congratulated Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ for his achievement. He shared this information with faculty, staff members and students of the University.
During the program, Mr. Rod Smith, Global Managing Director at Cambridge University Press, while praising the corrective changes in the Indian education system over a long period of time, described the efforts of Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ as transformational. While speaking on the history of education in India Dr. Smith said, education & research are important tools of the world and India’s education system has a long and illustrious history. He also informed that India has been home to prestigious universities since ancient times. He added, the studies of trigonometry, calculus and algebra all originated in India”.
Accepting the honour, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the new education policy is the result of the evolutionary vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said, the result of the participation of all stakeholders is that each stakeholder feels connected to the policy. He said that the New Education Policy will ensure physical and mental development by incorporating human values. Union Minister said that, NEP-2020 lays the foundation of the New India as it focuses on the development of competencies, skills and critical thinking of children. He assured that India will take forward its role as a leader in the field of education. He informed that Cambridge University is working on several schemes for educational excellence in India. Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ thanked the University of Cambridge for its support in the field of learning-based education in India.
While giving information to the media, CUPB Vice Chancellor Raghavendra Prasad Tiwari said that Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has received this special honour by the officials of University of Cambridge for his outstanding education reforms in the National Education Policy ‘NEP-2020’. He said that under the guidelines of Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, ‘NEP-2020’, formed in consultation with all stakeholders, is a 21st-century India-centric education policy that recognises the importance of imparting education in mother-tongue language, encourage inter-disciplinary studies & values-based education to promote the scientific temperament, focuses to develop skills of youngsters, and promotes collaborative research to find innovative solutions to society’s problems. He congratulated the Union Education Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on this achievement and assured that the Central University of Punjab is committed to implement all the essentials of NEP-2020 and realizing the goal of making India a ‘Global Knowledge Centre’ again.
