A Decade of Excellence: IIM Amritsar celebrates its 10th Foundation Day

Amritsar  – The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar celebrated its 10th foundation day on 27th July 2024. The ceremony occurred at the splendorous Courtyard by Marriott, Amritsar, and marked the beginning of the 10th year of IIM Amritsar. After a decade of making strides in business education, the institute took a moment to celebrate its success and reflect on the fond memories it shared with its students, faculty, alumni, and the rest of the IIM Amritsar fraternity. The day began with a tree plantation at the Manawala campus to promote environmental sustainability and foster community engagement.
The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony with Prof Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director of IIM Amritsar, his wife, Mrs Meera Ramamoorthy, and Dr Mahima Gupta, Dean of Academics and Administration. A spectacular performance of Ganesh Vandana by IIM Amritsar students followed, marking a decade of enlightenment through education. After lighting the lamp, Prof Ramamoorthy gave his address. He began with reminiscences and nostalgia as he looked back at his own five-year tenure as director of the institute and the fond memories of those years. He recalled how, at its inception, the institute had only 20 staff and faculty members and how it had grown to fill its halls and corridors. He also talked about the exciting prospect of moving to the new campus at Manawala and how it marked a new milestone in the institute’s journey. He acknowledged the difficulty of moving away from what has been IIM Amritsar’s home for the past decade. However, he emphasized that they couldn’t let sentimentality hold them back from progress. He encouraged everyone to look forward to the new, exciting endeavors that would follow the move. He concluded his address by expressing his gratitude to the faculty, staff, alumni, and students of IIM Amritsar, without whom the institute wouldn’t have blossomed into what it has become today.
Following the address, the Media & Public Relations Committee of IIM Amritsar showcased a short memento video. This video recollected the foundation of the institute, its students, and its alumni. The video also contained testimonials from different batches of the institute, from the first batch to the eighth (which graduated in 2024). The testimonials highlighted the pride of the alumni and underscored the promising futures awaiting current students. Mr Aditya Kumar Yadav, a member of the inaugural class, remarked, “Being part of the first batch was a leap of faith, but looking back, I never imagined the rewards would be this great.” They also revealed the commemorative logo for the 10th year, which was met with applause from the attendees. The program culminated in a cake cutting and performances by the faculty and students. The performances were colorful, including singing, dancing, and traditional arts. The night ended with a vote of thanks and a scrumptious dinner, leaving the guests and participants filled with memories, nostalgia, and anticipation.
