A literary gathering dedicated to the Hindi writer Dr. Kusum Ansal

Aligarh : A literary gathering dedicated to the Hindi writer Dr. Kusum Ansal was organized by Aligarh Muslim University’s department of Urdu in collaboration with Idea Communications. The event saw the presence of guests, including Prof. PB Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Amity University, Gurgaon; TV and theatre artist Ms. Rama Pandey; and Director of Idea Communications, Asif Azmi. Notable speakers included Prof. Vibha Sharma from the Department of English, Dr. Shagufta Niyaz from Hindi, and Profs. Qamarul Huda Faridi, Tariq Chhatari, and Mohammad Ali Johar from the Department of Urdu.

During the ceremony, Dr. Kusum Ansal’s latest novel, Tera Patra Mila was unveiled. Prof. PB Sharma emphasised the role of writers, not just as mirrors but as guides to society, urging that, in an age of technology, it is our duty to keep literature alive. Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Ansal, an AMU alumna, shared her pride in Aligarh’s cultural heritage, which she said has shaped her life and writing. She also recited a poem on the Aligarh Exhibition and couplet from AMU Tarana.

Asif Azmi noted that literature thrives when rooted in reality, reflecting contemporary challenges, while Rama Pandey praised Dr. Ansal’s contributions to women’s empowerment. Prof. Vibha Sharma encouraged the youth to explore books beyond digital media, and Dr. Shagufta Niyaz highlighted the importance of correspondence, as depicted in Dr. Ansal’s novel.

Faculty, students, and family members, including Sushil Ansal, Vinod Sehgal, and Subodh Sehgal, attended the gathering.

Dr. Mamoon Rashid conducted the program while Dr. Mohammad Sharik served as the chief coordinator.
