A School That Imparts Education for Nation Building — Sanawar strives towards Inculcating Institutionalism in Youth!
The Lawrence School, Sanawar nestled amidst the serene hills of Himachal Pradesh, has been abuzz with numerous activities laced with patriotic fervor in the lead-up to India’s 76th Independence Day celebrations which also marks the conclusion of 75 weeks long ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign’ aiming to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of our beloved Nation’s independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.
Infused with the spirit of this campaign, which aims to further boost people’s movement through collaborative campaigns and outreach efforts, The School has opened its 139-acre green, pristine, and well-equipped campus to warmly welcome the students from neighboring government schools. More than thirty primary and middle school students reveled in joyful learning when they visited our campus recently on the 4th of August and the 8th of August. The inquisitive students interacted with our students and teachers and tried their hands at Sculpture and Art activities. Some possessing musical talent won hearts through melodious renditions of local pahadi folk songs. The sports enthusiasts also honed their football skills at a sports training camp where our sports teachers imparted some valuable training tips to them.
Our students are enthusiastically taking part in Honourpoint Foundation’s initiative i.e. the 5th edition of the ”Rang De Veer-All India Open Online Painting Contest” to create awareness about the fallen heroes of our Armed Forces among the young Indians.
While the entire school joined the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign last year with great gusto, we are all set to observe the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign this year on 15th August to salute the courage, valor, and sacrifice of our soldiers for our beloved motherland.
This year the National Flag will be hoisted at a Special Assembly and sweets distributed to the students and the staff. A rich program of Sport, Cultural events, and a Special Sports Day for the school support staff and their children is planned. A special Community Lunch will be organized by the school in the Central Dining Hall where students and teachers will host and serve the support staff and their family members as a mark of sincere gratitude for their valuable services.
The school is committed to inculcating among students the essence and appreciation for the nine critical themes aligned with ‘Panch Pran’ announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister namely Women and Children, Tribal Empowerment, Water, Cultural Pride, Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE), Health and Wellness, Inclusive Development, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Unity. “During the last three months, the students of the school have planted over 1000 saplings of bamboo, Himalayan Oak, Deodar, and Horse Chestnut trees in various parts of the school as well as along our perimeter. We are extremely grateful to the District Forest Officer for his support and cooperation in making our tree plantation drive a success. A special mention must be made of Lt. General Kamal Davar and the members of SPOKE who always take part in tree planting and inspire our students to go the extra mile.”- said Himmat S. Dhillon, the school’s headmaster.
