“AAA-TX’s Grant: Boosting Academic Excellence at AMU”

Aligarh : In a  stride towards academic advancement, the Aligarh Alumni Association of Texas (AAA-TX) in Houston, USA, has pioneered the Aligarh Muslim University Faculty Development Research Seed Grant (AMU-FDRSG), offering 12 lakhs in funding to support the research endeavors of faculty members. This innovative mechanism aims to cultivate a competitive spirit among early and mid-career scientists, streamlining their efforts to secure extramural funding.

The recipients of the FDRSG, including Dr. Shamila Fatima (Dept. of Biochemistry, F/O Life Sciences), Dr. Ruquiya Afrose (Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College), Dr. Mohammad Kamil Khan, and Dr. Muhammad Inamullah (Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology,), were honored by AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez.

Dr. Samina Salim, Associate Professor at the University of Houston and President of AAA-TX, who played an important role in establishing this program, presented the Houston alumni magazine, “Tarana,” to the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Houston alumni and the AAA-TX executive team. Prof. Sufyan Beg (Principal ZHCET) and Prof. Mohammad Akram, the program coordinators, were also in attendance. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the winners, participating in discussions on the merits of each proposal, and expressed appreciation to the Houston alumni for their initiative and support for their alma mater. This initiative reflects a commitment to nurturing academic excellence and advancing research within the Aligarh Muslim University community.
