Aadhaar based payment reviewed for MGNREGA works

Kupwara: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the Aadhaar based payment for MGNREGA works in Kupwara district.
The meeting discussed various issues regarding seeding of Aadhaar numbers and its timely verification.
The meeting was informed that as many as 1,80,000 workers are registered with Rural Development Department(RDD) with 98000 active job cards in the district and so far 1.45 lakh Aadhaar cards have been updated, of this 90,000 have been verified while as, 29,000 Aadhaar cards have been linked with bank accounts for payments so far.
The ADC directed the concerned officers to speed up the pace of seeding of Aadhaar and ensure that all pending 61,000 accounts are linked with Aadhaar numbers within 10 days so that all payments of MGNREGA works should is released through Aadhaar linked bank accounts.
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), DPO, Cluster Head J&K Bank, District Information Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
