ABSMARI set to bring Global Best Practice in Physiotherapy and Sport Science to India

Bhubaneswar: The Abhinav Bindra Sports Medicine and Research Institute (ABSMARI) has been opened for admissions, in a statement released on Monday morning by the organisation. An extension of the initiatives by the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, the objective of ABSMARI is to empower the Indian Sport Ecosystem with Physiotherapy and Sport Science knowledge in line with Global Best Practice. Set up in Bhubaneswar, the Institute is affiliated to the prestigious Utkal University, and is poised to add tremendous value to the growing interest in Sport in the state.
The stand-out feature of the institute is the expertise and clinical exposure received from the Technology employed, which encourages Visual Learning in real-time, and bases the curriculum on data-driven findings relevant to the Indian body-type, something that was not possible before. World Class Labs specific for Orthopaedic, Neurology, and Cardio-pulmonary sciences have been put in place, adding a practical element to education in the field. In addition, Experts from India and across the world will be a part of the guest faculty, including reputable names in the Sports Medicine Community.
“With ABSMARI, we hope to empower Indian Physiotherapists and Sport Scientists to learn from the best, and be a part of this movement”, said Abhinav Bindra, Founder of the institution and India’s first Individual Olympic Gold Medallist. “Through Visual Learning and the state-of-the-art labs in place, students can hope to fast track their learning, as well as gear themselves for continuous professional development.” Said Dr. Joseph Oliver, Dean of ABSMARI.
BPT and MPT Courses (Sport, Orthopaedics, Neurology, and Cardio-pulmonary Sciences) will begin from this year. Over time, the intent is to add various elements of the field, more research opportunities, and added specialisations.
