Ace of Spades hosts Ex-Servicemen and NoK Mela

Rajouri: An Ex-servicemen and NoK mela was today organised by ‘Ace of Spades’ Division here at ALG Ground, Rajouri in a run up to Rajouri Day celebration. The mela was aimed at reaching out to Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris identifying and mitigating their problems on pension matters, availing of medical facilities and various other facilities extended to the Ex-servicemen/ NoK/ Veer Naris of the region.

Approximately 160 Ex-servicemen and 30 Veer Naris & Widows and their dependents participated. The participants included veterans hailing from far flung areas of Rajouri who enthusiastically undertook the arduous journey to be a part of the event.

The Mela began with a warm reception of the Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris. GOC ‘Ace of Spades’ Division, Rajouri addressed the gathering stating that, “We have a very good legacy of soldiering in J&K especially Rajouri district and the lessons from your service life of discipline, hard work and character are visible in the society around us. Your responsibility today in civil society holds significance for upliftment of society. He praised the dedication and hard work of the retired rank and file of the Armed Forces and their role in the society. He also emphasised that the youth of today is looking up for guidance for the way ahead and all veterans should be role models for them. He exhorted the younger generation to learn from the Veterans and emulate their lives in ensuring a progressive and prosperous J&K’’.

The event was successful in generating awareness about various welfare schemes extended to veterans and Veer Naris as well as mitigating their problems. The event culminated with loud cheering of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jay’ reverberating through the skies of Rajouri.
