Adani Skill Development Centre in Kerala launches training programs to empower youth and women
Introduces specialized courses for port operations and women’s livelihoods in Vizhinjam
Vizhinjham : Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC), a non-profit organization and a special project of the Adani Foundation, has launched training programs related to port operations to align with national and international livelihood opportunities. Ahead of International Women’s Day, ASDC also launched an array of skill-development courses for women.
The launch event was held on March 6 th , 2024, at Vizhinjham, Kerala. The courses related to port operations, including Internal Transfer Vehicle (ITV) operation and Lasher training, have been thoughtfully designed to meet the dynamic
demands of Ports and ensure that trainees acquire essential skills necessary for efficient and safe port operations. The inauguration of these courses took place in the presence of key stakeholders including Mr M. Vincent – MLA of Kovalam, Mr. Pradeep
Jayaraman – CEO of Adani Vizhinjam Port, Mr. Vasant Gadhavi – Executive Director of Adani Foundation and ASDC, and Dr Anil Balakrishnan – CSR Head, for over 60 enthusiastic trainees.
The courses also aim to prepare young individuals with practical skills to enhance their employability nationally and internationally. By providing hands-on training and theoretical knowledge in areas crucial to port operations, ASDC endeavours to bridge the gap between industry requirements and workforce capabilities. Mr. M. Vincent, MLA of Kovalam, congratulated the entire team on the launch of new port-related
courses. Mr. Pradeep Jayaraman, CEO, Adani Vizhinjam Port, said “The efforts of ASDC will go a long way in fulfilling the requirement of skilled workforce, which is especially critical in rapidly advancing and expanding ports like Vizhinjam.”
Additionally, the centre also welcomed over 100 female candidates eager to enhance their skills and pursue better opportunities for their livelihood to commemorate International Women’s Day. It showcased a diverse array of courses tailored to meet the needs of the participants. These courses include General Duty Assistant (Nursing Assistant), Data Entry Operator with AI tools, stitching and beauty therapist. Through these trainings, Adani Skill Development Centre aims to equip women with the tools and knowledge necessary to seize opportunities and contribute meaningfully to society.
By offering specialized courses and fostering a supportive learning environment, Adani Foundation continues to be a beacon of hope and empowerment for women and youth in Vizhinjham and beyond.
