ADDC Kathua reviews progress achieved under RD, other sectors; listens to issues of PRI members

 

KATHUA  : To review the progress of Rural developmental and other sectors schemes, Additional District Development Commissioner, Puneet Sharma today convened a meeting with BDC Chairpersons and officers of the line departments.

Assistant commissioner Development, Chief Planning Officer, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Chief Medical officer, Chief Education Officer, XEN PDD, XEN PHE, XEN PWD, XEN PMGSY, XEN RTIC, BDOs of various blocks attended the meeting.

The ADDC took block wise review of the progress of development projects and listened to the issues projected by the BDC Chairpersons

Barnoti BDC Chairpersons Brijeshwar Singh demanded additional procurement centres in the block to cater to the need of upcoming paddy harvest. He demanded special COVID-19 Vaccination camps in the block for 100% coverage in the area.

Similarly BDC Chairperson Billawar, Ashok Kumar sought close monitoring of ongoing development works in the block and action against contractors for compromising on quality of work. He further demanded repair of washrooms and toilets in the Sub District Hospital BIllawar and raised the problem of low voltage in the area and shortage of staff in the Rural Development Department.

Likewise BDC Chairperson Hiranagar Ram Lal Kalia protection work along the fields eroded due to the flash floods, while BDC Chairperson, Kathua Raghubir Singh demanded transfer of overstayed RDD employees.

The BDC Chairperson, Nagrota Gujjroo, Abhay Khajuria complained that genuine people have been excluded from the Awas Plus scheme and demanded their inclusion in the beneficiary list. He further demanded adequate medical staff in the block, besides restoration of PMGSY Amwala-road, Rajwalta -road and Nagrota-Banyadi-roads damaged due to flash flood to mitigate the problems being faced by the people. BDC Chairperson Dhar-Mahanpur, Sushma Devi demanded a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the block as people have to travel a long distance to avail banking facilities. She also demanded electric poles and repair of panchayat Ghar

BDC Chairperson Mahanpur, Raj Singh demanded a check on the contractors to ensure quality of public works allotted to them and release of pending MGNREGA payments. BDC Chairperson Mandli, Rita Devi demanded repair and restoration of the main irrigation canal damaged due to landslides. She demanded a medical camp in the area for issuance of handicapped certificates.

BDC Chairperson Lohai-Malhar, Kamal Kumar demanded repair of handpumps, while BDC Chairperson Keerian raised the issue of low voltage and BDC Chairperson Duggan demanded early establishment of Kendriya Vidayalya for which papers of land have already been submitted to the concerned authorities.

The officers of the line departments resolved many issues on the spot.

Responding to the demands, the ADDC Puneet Sharma said that very soon the staff of the RDD would be rationalised for smooth functioning of the offices. He passed direction to the officers to mitigate the problems projected by the BDC chairpersons.
