Mumbai: Aditya Birla Education Academy, India’s leading professional development institute for teachers, announced the commencement of the inaugural batch of the Post Graduate Diploma in Global Education in association with B.K. Birla College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), Kalyan. A diverse set of 52 learners from different parts of India and abroad have registered for the first batch.

It is interesting to note that educators from various parts of the world such as Dubai and diverse states around India have enrolled for this diploma course. The batch consists of educators from Dubai, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Rajasthan, and Telangana. Candidates with varied years of work experience have registered for the diploma course ranging from freshers to school leaders with over 20 years of experience. Out of these registered candidates, 91% are female educators while the rest are male, highlighting the over-representation of women in the teaching profession. The educators enlisted for this course are currently teaching ICSE, CBSE, and CAIE curriculums. A majority of them (70%) teach in CBSE-affiliated schools. While a large number of the participants are practicing teachers, the batch has also attracted corporate professionals besides early graduates.

The PGDGE program has been launched to enable teachers to undertake upskilling and digital training from a global education perspective in order to help them cope up with the unexpected changes to the online structure of teaching and learning. The program enables educators to advance their skills and knowledge in international education through a blended curriculum of meticulous and up-to-date academic setting along with learning through school-based practice.

Commenting on the inaugural batch of PGDGE, Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder, and Chairperson, Aditya Birla Education Trust said, “I congratulate all the learners of this first batch for choosing the right step. Our primary objective to launch this course is to support educators, enhance their skills and train to practice with the best global applications simultaneously reflecting on their self-development. I hope the first batch of the PGDGE successfully advances its skills and engages in learning to practice with the best global methods and understand the intersection between effective teachings and learning within a global setting.”

Quote from a Montessori school educator (Bhakti Bhatt):

I am currently pursuing my Post Graduate Diploma in Global Education from Aditya Birla Education Academy. Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, I felt this was a good time to upskill and continue my Professional Development. I have been working with a Montessori school for the last 7 years and I felt it would be interesting to go deeper into the field of Education. Education worldwide is going through a change. We have now left the Industrial Age and have embarked onto a Creative and Digital age. The world has become smaller and our students need an education that is relevant and glocal. They need new skills to navigate through the future. As an Educator, I felt a strong need to learn about these new skills and methods that can be incorporated into the classroom. This course will enable me and equip me to learn from faculty who are stalwarts and have experimented with concepts of problem-solving, question-based learning, etc. in their classrooms and to further my growth as an Educator.

Quote from a Dubai based participant (Suchithra Sukumaran):

This program is a great remote learning opportunity to be adept in new-age teaching techniques, pedagogical approaches, and global practices. Backed with diligent support from the organizers and knowledge sharing by the industry experts, it welcomes teachers and teaching aspirants to create a global education classroom that’s relevant in the post-pandemic world. Coming from an IT background, this program will help me to reskill and contribute to a better future as an effective educator.

Quote from a Corporate Professional (Neha Sharma):

As I was making a transition from the corporate world to the education world, I decided to take up a course that can help me in that. I went through this PGDGE course and the website and found that the modules this course covers are designed for everyone whether you are already a teacher or a newcomer like me. My expectations from this course are that it will help me grow and excel in this new field and most importantly help me in becoming an effective teacher.
