Aditya Birla Education Academy conducted a unique panel discussion on ‘A Day In The Life Of A Teacher’
Mumbai: Aditya Birla Education Academy, India’s leading professional development institute, recently conducted its 49th- ABEA Masterclass – a panel discussion on an important theme: ‘A Day in the Life of a Teacher’, moderated by Ms. Surabhi Goel, CEO, Aditya Birla Education Trust schools. The event saw participation of 5 panellists from various renowned schools viz. Ms. Bindu Agarwal, Teacher, Bombay International School, Mr. K.V Arjun Rao, Principal, JBCN International School, Ms. Minakshi Khemka, Teacher- The Sanskriti school, Dr. Pramila Kudva, Principal, Pawar Public School and Mr. Satyam Gupta, Head of Content and Training, Dharohar.
The core objective of the panel discussion was to focus on the life of teachers and demystify the various misconceptions associated with taking on a career as a teacher. Through the panel discussion, teachers shared their in-school as well as virtual experiences on why they love teaching and how it provides them with gratification for imparting learning and knowledge among the young minds of the country. The panellists discussed how the mindset barriers of the younger generation need to change, encouraging individuals to choose teaching as a career option. The educators also shared their perspective on how the education system managed to run a virtual school scenario overnight due to the pandemic. The panellists highlighted the fact that the greatest teachers were the ones who were there to guide and support the students at the time of utmost need. One of the key takeaways of the panel was, “To become an excellent teacher, one has to be extremely passionate about what they’re doing and have to always be empathetic & teachers are the original “influencers”.

The one hour long virtual session delved into the various aspects such as the need for teachers to learn and unlearn, need help to become creative individuals, independent thinkers, learn to solve problems, and mature as good collaborators. The pandemic altered the entire education sector and made it imperative for educators to adapt to the new way of imparting education. The discussion highlighted that training teachers to tackle the online situation is important but human intervention is also necessary as the digital medium is not just enough to help the children learn.
