Aditya Birla World Academy’s “The Happy Place” invites schools and students to join an immersive experience on body positivity

Mumbai : Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA), in partnership with Mpower, is excited to present “The Happy Place,” a two-day student led initiative with the theme “Mind Over Mirror.” This transformative initiative is designed to reshape perceptions of body image and promote self-esteem among teenagers. “The Happy Place” is an engaging and multifaceted two day event(13th to 14th October, 2023) that addresses the challenges faced by young individuals in an image-driven society. A unique opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of body image and self-esteem and to break the cycle of self – doubt on body appearance that often accompanies unrealistic beauty standards.

“The Happy Place” offers a diverse range of impactful events, empowering students and reshaping their perceptions of body image and self-esteem.  The event includes different categories of events including powerful “Street Play: Stop the Shame Game”Change the Beat” which encourages rewriting music lyrics to promote acceptance and self – love, “Behind the Scars  where portrait photography will showcase resilience and dispel stigmas fostering empathy. The “Distorted”  the ad film raises awareness about eating disorders, promoting healthier self-perceptions. “Rainbow Reflections” celebrates body acceptance through art while “All Sizes Fit” champions diversity through dance. “The Myth of Beauty”  will portray embracing imperfections through a fashion show, and “Heal Yourself, Heal the World”  encourages mutual support and healing through writing and poetry. These exciting events aim to create a positive, empowering, and inclusive environment for students to embrace their uniqueness and build self-esteem.

In addition to these initiatives, “The Happy Place” will offer engaging workshops such as Dance Movement Therapy, Art Therapy, and Body Positivity(Be- You) sessions, empowering participants to embrace and love their bodies. For more information about “The Happy Place” event, please refer to the attached Happy Place Invite and Activity Handbook. Through this dynamic event,  ABWA invites schools and individual participants to come together, and showcase challenging stereotypes and celebrate body positivity, self-acceptance with uniqueness through different engaging and unique activities. In collaboration with Mpower, dedicated to championing mental health causes, creating awareness, and providing services through a holistic approach, this event embraces diversity and inclusivity. Together with Mpower, ABWA advocates breaking the shackles of the shame game associated with body appearance.
