Aditya College of Architecture Honors the Legacy of Ar. Charles Correa with an Inspiring Memorial Lecture and Celebrations

Mumbai : Aditya College of Architecture proudly hosted the annual Padma Vibhushan Ar. Charles Correa Memorial Lecture recently at the college’s AEC Campus. This prestigious event honoured the legacy of the esteemed architect and celebrated excellence in the field of architecture.

The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, a symbolic gesture performed by the distinguished attendees: Founder Trustee and Chairman Dr. Harishchandra Mishra, Honourable Trustee Shri Ashish Mishra, Chief Guest Ar. Chandrashekhar Kanetkar, Principal of Aditya College of Architecture Prof. Jamshid Bhiwandiwalla, and HOD of B.Voc. Aditya College of Architecture Ar. Rasika Chodankar.

Ar. Chandrashekhar Kanetkar, the Chief Guest for the event, is a revered figure in the architectural community with over 40 years of experience in luxury and hospitality design. His engaging presentation captivated the audience as he recounted his architectural journey, from his student days at M.S. University, Baroda, to his professional interactions with Ar. Charles Correa and his involvement in renowned projects such as the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Goa and the Avadh Utopia luxury bungalow scheme in Vapi.

Following the presentation, Ar. Chandrashekhar Kanetkar was felicitated by Prof. Jamshid Bhiwandiwalla, Ar. Rasika Chodankar, and Ar. Sukumar Dharmadhikari, Design Chair at Aditya College of Architecture. The ceremony also included the recognition of outstanding academic achievers from the University of Mumbai examinations for Semester VI and Semester XI, who were honoured by Ar. Kanetkar.

Additionally, the event marked the release of the 5th volume of F.Y.I., the student magazine of Aditya College of Architecture, and the launch of the 11th International Design Competition 2024. These initiatives underscore the college’s commitment to having a global outreach, fostering creativity and cultivating excellence in architectural education across the world.
