Administration arranges transportation of 397 migrant labourers to Katra for onward journey to MP, Chhattisgarh

Katra: In its endeavors to facilitate the stranded migrant labours in their interstate movement in the wake of COVID-19, the district administration Rajouri under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, on Friday sent a fleet of vehicles carrying 397 labourers mostly hailing from Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh to Katra for their onwards transportation to their home states in Shramik Special trains.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Angrez Singh, said that all the logistics arrangements like food, drinking water and other essentials have been made by the district administration to facilitate the labourers during their journey. Besides, a liaison officer has been deputed in each vehicle who is moving with the labourers upto Katra taking care of their needs, he added. He said that the process of registration of these labourers in the district is being done by the Labour Department Rajouri.
The labourers have expressed their gratitude to the district administration for its tireless efforts to facilitate them amid COVID-19 lockdown and for taking care of their needs during their temporary stay in the district.
