Admissions open at Tata Institute of Social Sciences at Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad for Undergraduate programmes

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), recognised as a Deemed to be University invites applications for an Integrated admission to a unique B.A. & M.A. Social Sciences Programme and a B.A. (Hons) in Social Work with specialization in Rural Development. Candidates will have to appear for the TISS-BAT 2015 entrance test to be held on May 9th, 2015 between 2 pm – 4 pm across the country for admissions to its Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses.
Students who have cleared or are awaiting results for the 12th standard or intermediate or A level or IB in any subject stream from a recognized board in one attempt are eligible to apply for the program. Final pass result should be produced at the time of joining the program. Candidates should be less than 23 years of age as of 9th May, 2015 to fit the age criteria for the program.
 Test centres will be present in Delhi, Dimapur, Guwahati ,Kolkata, Silchar, Tiruvananthapuram,  Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam,  Bengaluru,  Kochi, Bhopal,  Jaipur, Mumbai, Patna, Nagpur, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Sholapur  and Vijayawada. The last date to apply is April 7th, 2015. The hall tickets for entrance exam will be issued (online) on April 21st, 2015.
The final results will be announced on TISS website (www.tiss.edu) on May 20, 2015.
About the Programs:
Integrated B.A. & M.A. Social Sciences Program- The three-year undergraduate Social Sciences program will focus on the humanistic aspects of Social Sciences blended with logical reasoning of the natural sciences, with a combined emphasis on the faculties of imagination and creativity as well as of rigorous and critical thinking. It will create a strong foundation using social, economic, political, cultural, psychological and environmental theories.
The students will also study mathematics and take foundational courses in biological, physical and chemical sciences and languages in addition to philosophy of research, research methodology, logic and history.

B.A. (Hons) in Social Work with specialization in Rural Development – The program aims at creating committed and competent professionals. It attempts to build skills in facilitating change and transformation in rural areas at the level of individuals, groups and communities and endeavors to strengthen the capacities of the students to develop appropriate skills and talents in the rural development sector.

As per Govt. of India requirements, reservation of seats is allocated as follows: Scheduled Caste: 15%, Scheduled Tribe: 7.5%, Other Backward Class (OBC): 27%, Persons with Disability: 3%, Kashmiri Migrants: 1%, Armed Forces : 5% (supernumerary quota).
TISS Guwahati Campus has reservations for students from the eight States in the North East. 66% of the seats will be proportionately distributed amongst the eight North-eastern States and 34% of the seats for students from rest of India (GoI reservation norms applied to these seats).
