Advisor Bhatnagar addresses ‘Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure’ at Kashmir University
SRINAGAR : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today remarked that NEP-2020 has created a suitable platform in universities and other educational institutions for translation of research, ideas and innovations into actions for betterment of society.
The Advisor made these remarks while speaking at the inaugural session of week long Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (STUTI) at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir here.
The week long program is being organised by the Department of Physics, University of Kashmir in collaboration with the Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra with support from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. Of India.
Addressing the large gathering of scientists, scholars, researchers and students from different universities of the country, Advisor Bhatnagar highlighted that the collaborations between different universities and institutions with sharing of infrastructure, ideas and research as well as movement of scholars and researchers is of utmost importance as it gives impetus to research efforts. He added that these collaborations create a platform for interactions where some of the unique brains and minds of various institutions meet and integrate, thereby producing something significant for our nation as well as the world across.
The Advisor further said that the present age is the age of Science and Technology and the technology has changed the way of our life. He added that Science and Technology has created ample solutions to problems faced by our present civilization.
Highlighting about the significance of the program, Advisor Bhatnagar said that through STUTI human resource and its knowledge capacity through open access to Science and Technology infrastructures across the country will be build up. He added that through this platform proper and optimum utilisation of different equipments can be achieved and this conference is significantly contributing in that direction.
Talking about the progress made by the University in recent years, Advisor Bhatnagar remarked that this university is one of the premier institutes across the country and is known for its academic excellence. He added that the Brain Gain scheme of this University has brought good results and is significantly contributing towards the excellence of this premier institute.
Highlighting about the significance of NEP-2020, Advisor Bhatnagar said that the NEP-2020 is addressing some of the shortcomings and drawbacks in our educational system and with its help, the government is broad basing it and making it more research and innovation oriented. He added that mentoring and exchanging of ideas forms one of the core competences of the NEP-2020 and this program will contribute remarkably in that aspect.
While talking about the progress made by J&K in last few years, Advisor Bhatnagar said that in recent years, J&K has made institutional advances in education as well as health sectors. He added that two AIIMS institutes, seven new Medical Colleges, ample number of degree colleges as well as innovation and incubation centres have been established across J&K.
The Advisor further said that colleges are being made autonomous across the Union Territory so that the culture of research and innovation can be amplified here.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Nelofar Khan said that this program is very important as in today’s world, we have unique equipments and technologies and therefore we need to keep ourselves abreast with the latest happenings in the world of Science and Technology. She added that through this conference, the Department of Science and Technology, GoI helps to make aware and create know-how about different uses of some unique equipments they provide to different universities across the country.
Chairman STUTI and former Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Talat Ahmad said that the training will be conducted on hub-and-spoke model and envisions to have a hands-on training program and sensitization of the state-of-the-art equipment as well as its sharing with transparent access to Science and Technology facilities.
In his welcome address, Registrar, University of Kashmir said this is a week long program targetting scholars, researchers, scientists and others.
Others who spoke on the occasion include, Secretary, Research and Development, Department of Science and Technology, GoI, S.S. Kohli, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Kashmir, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Masoodi, and Convenor STUTI, Prof. Farooq Mir.
Among others, the inaugural session was attended by Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Ramshoo, Deans of various departments, HoDs, researchers and large number of students.
