Advisor Bhatnagar reviews performance, functioning of JKPCC

Jammu: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today chaired a meeting to review the performance and overall functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, PWD, Shailendra Kumar; Managing Director JKPCC, Vikas Kundal; Chief Engineer R&B Jammu and other concerned officials of the Corporation while as Chief Engineer R&B, Kashmir, General Manager JKPCC, Kashmir and other officials participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

During the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar directed the officers to make all efforts so as to make the Corporation a viable public utility organisation.

On the occasion, MD JKPCC gave a detailed presentation highlighting the functioning of the Corporation as well as the status of various projects being executed by it.

The MD informed the meeting that 26 projects have been completed by the agency this year while 42 projects and 18 projects will be completed by March 2021 and June 2021 respectively.

The Advisor assessed the physical progress of the JKPCC projects being executed along with their financial progress. He instructed the officers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects for their timely completion .

Advisor Bhatnagar also directed the MD JKPCC to handover the completed projects to the respective departments so that they can be utilised for the public use.

He stressed upon the concerned officers to conduct regular site visits to stay well versed with the actual situation and emergent issues of their departments.

The Advisor said that the JKPCC being one of the premier project executing agencies of Jammu and Kashmir should ensure that it always maintains quality and adheres to cost and completion dates besides ensuring transparency at all levels and works should be allotted through proper e-tendering system.

The Advisor asked JKPCC authorities to strike a judicious balance between the income and expenditure and take necessary corrective measures for minimizing the administrative expenses and increasing income. He told them that instead of only looking towards the Government for contracts, the Corporation must join various competitive biddings for expanding the ambit of its functioning and improve its financial health.

He also advised them to look at organizational restructuring to increase their viability besides optimisation of their equipments and staff.
