Advisor Sharma directs comprehensive policy for promotion of SSI sector, marketing strategies

Jammu: Advisor to Lt. Governor, K K Sharma today directed for framing a comprehensive mechanism to effectively promote small-scale industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir so that the aspiring entrepreneurs are provided with the necessary support by creating ecosystems for competitive goods and services.
The Advisor was speaking at the Board of Directors meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd (SICOP) here today.
Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Director General Planning, Sahibzada Bilal, Director of Industries, Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, MD SICOP, Atul Sharma, representatives of MSME, Government of India and other concerned were present.
While directing the officers to ensure that the small scales industries sector get the requisite support by way of various government initiatives, the Advisor said they should also be proactive to the demands and suggestions given by the aspiring entrepreneurs and startups.
The Advisor while discussing the concerns of the SSI units directed the officers to come with a mechanism for ensuring that the requisite support vis-a-vis marketing and other initiatives is devised so that they can effectively discharge their business in the changed dynamics.
He said that a committee should be formulated to come up with a roadmap which can be then deliberated so that the concerns of local entrepreneurs are safeguarded and addressed adequately.
The Advisor directed the officers to prepare a list of the units which are functioning and also those which have not started their activities but have been allotted the industrial plots.
He said that those non-functional ones should be added to the land bank for allotment to new entrepreneurs
The Advisor also directed for studying the models of other states viz-a-viz the promotion of small-scale industrial sector so that they can be effectively promoted and other necessary measures undertaken for their sustainment besides catalyzing the entrepreneur aspirations.
While directing the MD SICOP to explore other mechanism for providing support to the local entrepreneurs, the Advisor said that the organization should also explore the possibility of registering itself on the GeM portal. He said they should also undertake comprehensive awareness programmes for all small scale industries in every district for educating them about the new trends and mechanisms for marketing their products locally as well as at the national level.
He also directed for undertaking staff profiling so that the human resource of the Corporations can be effectively utilized in tune with the upcoming market trends and new technological interventions.
