Agriculture Department organises one Day Kissan Mela at Ramnagar
Ramnagar: A one day Kissan Mela was today organized by Agriculture and farmers Welfare Department, Jammu under soil health card scheme here at village Dalsar, Sub-Division Ramnagar of District Udhampur under the auspices of Soil & Water Management.
The mela was inaugurated by BDC Chairperson, Chanunta, Gita Devi in presence of Jattu Ram, DDC Member Ramnagar-II; Subash Chander Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer, Udhampur; Sri Nath Suman, Tehsildar Ramnagar; B.K. Mahajan, Area Development Officer (Veg.) Udhampur and Jatinder Kumar Choudhari, SDAO Ramnagar..
While addressing the Mela, the BDC Chairperson praised the Department of Agriculture for conducting such type of Kissan Melas for the welfare of the farming community. She asked the Department to conduct such melas/awareness camps in widespread locations so that public outreach to poor farmers can be achieved.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Udhampur stressed the farming community to enroll themselves under flagship schemes such as Kissan Credit Card, Pm-Kissan, Pm-Kissan Man Dhan Yojana & Soil Health Card Scheme. He also asked the farming community to avail the benefits of Departmental Schemes especially on Seed, Pesticides & Farm Machinery.
A technical session was organized by various Experts of Department of Agriculture highlighting advanced cultivation practices of mushroom, vegetable & field crops. A detailed account of achievements of Sub-Division Ramnagar was presented by Hem Raj Gupta, Subject Matter Specialist Ramnagar. Various schemes of the Department of Agriculture were highlighted and subsequently problems raised by the farmers were readdressed on the spot.
A complete stall of Soil Testing Laboratory along with e-plant Clinic for the farmers was displayed where various diseased crop samples were received from the farmers and their on spot remedial measures were suggested to the farmers.
