Agriculture department organises special awareness program for women farmers on Mushroom farming

 

DODA : An awareness programme to promote Mushroom farming among women farmers was organised by Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare department under mushroom development scheme here at Bhaderwah to mark the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav’ celebration. The Block Development Council Chairperson Bhaderwah, Omi Chand chaired the programme.

The event was held under the supervision of Chief Agriculture Officer, Anil Gupta and Mushroom Development Officer Haroon Butt.

Kaiser Masood I/C Mushroom Development Officer Bhaderwah informed the participants that the department will help them by imparting skills and training to educate how to undertake mushroom growing activity. He said that Mushroom cultivation is an income generating activity with the potential of meeting the dream of the PM to double the farming income by 2022.

The BDC Chairman also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the agriculture department for achieving the 100% in PMKSY and opening of new mushroom units with the capacity of around 2500 bags in the area. He also thanked all agriculture extension assistants for carrying out massive extension work during the past season in all Panchayats.

Sarpanch from Udrana Panchayat and other PRI members were also present at the awareness program.
