Agriculture Director Jammu flags off first consignment of Potato Seed to Rajouri, Poonch
Inspects activities at Kotli Mian Fateh Farm
JAMMU: Director Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, Jammu, K. K. Sharma, along with Joint Director of Agriculture (Farms), Jammu,Vijay Upadhaya today flagged off the first consignment of 95 Quantile of processed potato seed tubers to Rajouri and Poonch Districts from cold storage facility Bishnah.
The Director Agriculture, Jammu instructed the concerned staff of Potato Development Scheme for timely supply of the Potato seed to all the Districts of Jammu Division in a well coordinated manner so as to facilitate the timely availability of the seed tubers to farmers with minimal storage losses.
The Director also reviewed the preparedness for supply of Potato Seed and inspected the other activities undertaken at cold store, Bishnah.
Later, the Director Agriculture, along with the team of officers, visited the Potato Seed Development Farm, Kotli Mian Fateh and took stock of preparations for planting the Rabi crop of potato. He inspected all the blocks, stores, machinery shed, vermicompost unit and Guest House there. Instructions were issued to ensure timely sowing of the important crop of breeder seed procured from Central Potato Research Institute.
The Joint Director, Farms briefed the Director about the ongoing activities in the Farm. The Potato Development officer, Susheel Rattan Sharma appraised that more than 1500 quintals of different varieties of Potato seed is available for supply to the farmers at subsidized rate of Rs. 2200/quintal during current Rabi season, 2022-23.
