Ahmedabad based renowned architect Jayesh Hariyani wins prestigious AIA fellowship from American Institute of Architects

 

Ahmedabad,: Ahmedabad based renowned Indian architect Jayesh Hariyani has received the prestigious fellowship from American Institute of Architects (AIA). Fellowship is the highest honour given to an Architect by American Institute of Architects (AIA). The Fellowship is awarded on basis of stringent evaluation by distinguished International Jury. This (FAIA) honour/title is bestowed to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession through design excellence, contributions in the field of architectural education, or to the advancement of the profession in USA and/or Internationally.

Ar. Jayesh Hariyani is a CEPT alumni and has earned M. Arch in Urban Design and Planning from Syracuse University, USA and Executive MBA from Joseph M. Katz School of Business, USA.

Ar. Hariyani is known for his many distinguished projects in India and abroad that range from monument redevelopment to smart city. Master plan for redevelopment of Kedarnath, planning of Ahmedabad’s East CBD, Town Planning Scheme (TPS) of Dholera, Planning of world bank funded Visakhapatnam Beach Front Development, Master Plan of Rajkot Smart City (ABD), Regional Plan for India’s Iconic Sites such as Somnath & Mahabalipuram, India’s largest Aquatic Gallery, Master Plan for redevelopment of Eden Garden Cricket Stadium are some of the notable projects across India. Similarly, Doherty Hall – R&D project at Carnegie Mellon University, Physical Sciences Research Building at Cornell University and Institute of Molecular Medicine Research Campus at University of Texas are some of notable international projects worked by Ar. Hariyani that have helped him earn the lifetime honour of Fellowship of American Institute of Architects (FAIA).

Ar. Hariyani is co-founder and CMD of INI Design Studio, Ahmedabad. Prior to moving back to India with his wife Ar. Bindu Hariyani; he practiced in Switzerland, USA and UAE for 16+ years as Board of Directors and Partner at US based AE firm called Burt Hill.

Apart from his designs; his commitment and contribution to sustainable design practices is notable. Ar. Jayesh Hariyani is a member of Executive Board of CII-Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), CEO’s Advisory Board Member of US Green Building Council (USGBC), and is Chair or Co-Chair for many CII- IGBC Nationwide Technical Committees that include Green Campus Rating, Green Cities Rating, Net Zero Energy Rating, Green Villages Rating, Green Hill Habitats & Hill Town Rating etc. Ar. Jayesh Hariyani is only fifth Indian after Ar. B. V. Doshi (1971), Ar. J. R. Bhalla (1972), Ar. Charles Correa (1979) and Ar. A P Kanvinde (2000) to have been conferred with the FAIA honour by American Institute of Architects. With him now being a recipient of such honour AIA will allow Ar. Hariyani to use initials “FAIA” after his name.
