AICTE Welcomes CCS Approved Agneepath’ Scheme, Apex Technical Council Pledges Induction of the Scheme in Higher Education & NCF
New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has welcomed the ‘Agnipath Scheme’ launched by the Ministry of Defense, empowering the youth in defence training and securing the nation.
It is to be noted that Agnipath Scheme is a pan-India short-term service youth recruitment scheme for the armed forces. Recruits, called Agniveers, will serve in varied terrains — desert, mountain, land, sea, or air for 4 years.
Under the Agnipath scheme, 45,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited annually, and most will leave the service in just 4 years. Of the total annual recruits, only 25% will be allowed to continue for another 15 years under permanent commission.
AICTE Chairperson Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe hailed the initiative of the government and said, ”
We welcome this brilliant initiative by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi led Cabinet Committee on Security and the Defense Ministry. It will increase employment opportunities and because of the skills acquired by the youth during 4 years of their service, they will get employment in various fields. AICTE will give due credits to the experiential learning they undergo as per NCF framework.”
The Chairperson also emphasised how AICTE will be working towards recognition of the skill gained during their service in the armed forces under AGNIPATH as per the framework of UGC / AICTE to be accounted for graduation program.
