AIIMS Rishikesh and SaveLIFE Foundation sign MOU to enhance trauma care in India

Delhi : To advance road safety and emergency medical care across India, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh and SaveLIFE Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

AIIMS, Rishikesh has a Level 1 Trauma Centre along with a department of trauma care and surgery. SaveLIFE Foundation is best known for its efforts to get a Good Samaritan Law instituted in India. The Good Samaritan Law protects bystanders who come forward to rescue injured persons from any ensuing legal or procedural hassles.

The collaboration will allow knowledge sharing between SaveLIFE Foundation and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh to build a model trauma care framework specific to Indian needs. Both institutions shall work closely to promote road safety and emergency medical care including joint research, policy advocacy, training programs, crash investigations and interpretation using deep learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI), knowledge dissemination events, and opportunities in road safety and emergency care for medical students and young professionals.

Speaking on the collaboration, Dr (Prof.) Meenu Singh, Executive Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh said, “Road crashes are a major cause of death and disability in our country. Injury prevention and rapid care, therefore, form the foundation of road safety. Our partnership with SaveLIFE Foundation will see close collaboration in the areas of crash analytics, injury prevention & trauma systems development to save lives.”

The MoU was signed by Dr. (Prof.) Meenu Singh, Executive Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh and Mr. Piyush Tewari, Founder and CEO, SaveLIFE Foundation and in the presence of Dr. Madhur Uniyal, Assistant Professor, Department of Trauma Care and Surgery, AIIMS, Rishikesh, Dr Roshan Jose, Associate Director, SaveLIFE Foundation, and others.
