Akhil Bansal Amphitheatre inaugurated at AMU

 

Aligarh : The Akhil Bansal Amphitheatre in the Frank and Debbie Islam Management Complex, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was today inaugurated by AMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor in the presence of Mr. Yezdi Nagporewalla, CEO of KPMG in India and other dignitaries.

The Amphitheatre is dedicated to the loving memory of Mr. Akhil Bansal (1968-2021), an illustrious alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University and former Deputy CEO, KPMG in India, who immensely loved his alma mater.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony Prof Tariq Mansoor said, “Akhil Bansal was a distinguished alumnus and we are proud of his achievements. His passing away has left a deep void among his colleagues, family and friends”.

“AMU has a unique place among the academic institutions in the world, where students come from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, President of India appreciated AMU for its diverse and heterogeneous character. PM Narendra Modi called it mini-India, and Mr. Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons called AMU a unique institution” Prof Mansoor pointed out.

Prof Mansoor welcomed the members of the KPMG team and hoped for an enduring partnership with one of the leading professional services firms.

Mr. Yezdi Nagporewalla (CEO, KPMG) showered glittering tributes to his former colleague who created a niche for himself in the corporate world after passing out from AMU.

Mr. Pradeep Udhas, Senior Partner, KPMG in India also paid tribute to the departed soul before unveiling of the memorial pillar in the Department of Business Administration.

“Akhil Bansal always motivated students to excel in their careers. His name would live here forever”, said Mr. Udhas.

Earlier Prof. Salma Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research, AMU delivered the welcome address.

Prof. Jamal A. Farooqui, Chairman, Department of Business Administration delivered introductory remarks.

Prof Parvaiz Talib proposed the vote of thanks.

Ms Garima Bansal, wife of Mr. Akhil Bansal and his son Mr. Agrim Bansal also graced the occasion.

Prof. Feza Tabassum Azmi conducted the proceedings.

Faculty members, research scholars and students in large numbers attended the programme.
