Alexandria University: Community Service and Environmental Development Council Discusses Activities, Training Courses, Awareness Seminars, Research Projects

Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Postgraduate Studies and Researc, and Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, during the meeting of the Council for Community Service and Environmental Development today, Wednesday the 22nd of February, thanked the faculty members and students who participated in the medical convoy that went to the Abu Al-Matamir area, Beheira governorate at the end of last January to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the area, and to provide various medical services, with the participation of 10 doctors from the faculties of medicine, pharmacy and dentistry, and 50 students. The number of cases that were treated reached 804 cases, and they were provided with the necessary medications, and some cases that require medical procedures and special equipment were transferred to the main university hospital.



* The Vice President of the University praised the success of the CPR course, which was carried out in cooperation between the Occupational Safety and Health Sector Committee headed by Dr. Fahmy Charles and the College of Nursing to train workers on it, with an emphasis on its continuation for several times to come.
* The Council approved a memorandum of cooperation between the Faculty of Dentistry and the Directorate of Health Affairs in Alexandria in the field of community participation and the provision of distinguished medical services and joint training programs.



* The Council also approved the cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University and the Ministry of Health and Population in the field of developing scientific research, research laboratories, scientific workshops, and others.


* The council reviewed the report submitted by the Faculty of Agriculture on the fact that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Matrouh University, in partnership with the General Authority for Veterinary Services at the Ministry of Agriculture, visited the dairy and meat project in Abis, on February 8 and 9, 2023, to learn about the stages of breeding, milk production, artificial insemination applications, and the most important diseases and avoiding their transmission between calves.



* The Council also reviewed the report submitted by the Vice-Dean of the Higher Institute of Public Health on a number of seminars, namely, “Awareness Seminar against AIDS and Combating Social Stigma,” a seminar on “How to Choose a Research Topic through the Microsoft Teams Application,” and a report on the institute’s organization of the third charitable market.



* The council also reviewed a number of different activities and courses at the Faculty of Agriculture in Saba Pasha, as follows:
* Service training courses during the mid-year vacation in the faculty’s majors to participate in qualifying participation in the labor market.
*Smoking cessation initiative, a symposium on the risks of addiction and introducing psychological behavior, your health is a crown initiative, a symposium on “prevention is better than cure”, methods of preventing malignant tumors. The total number of trainees during these courses reached 434 trainees from the universities of Alexandria, Damanhour and Matrouh.
* The council discussed the report submitted by the Faculty of Nursing on its organization of the first cultural salon for mental health, and a report on organizing a visit to the nursing home within the effectiveness of the “Loyalty and Return of Favor” initiative.
* The Council reviewed the report submitted by the Faculty of Early Childhood Education on the symposium “Rumors and their Impact on the Individual and Society”
* The Council approved the research project submitted by Dr. Sobhi Salam, Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, entitled “Sustainable Production of Environmentally Friendly Products from Agricultural Waste to Maximize the Productivity of Farm Animals and Confront Climate Change.”
* The Council approved the research project submitted by Dr. Samir Mahmoud Nasr, Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research, entitled “Carrying Out Environmental Monitoring of Coastal Waters in the Mediterranean.”
