Alexandria University Council Reviews Second Semester Exams and Plans for Finnish University Branch

Alexandria University Council, headed by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, on behalf of Dr. Abdelaziz Konswa, President of the University, discussed the progress of the second semester exams for the academic year 2023/2024, which are taken by 190,000 male and female students distributed among 24 faculties and institutes. Stressing to the deans of colleges the need to provide all means of comfort that guarantee the conduct of exams in an atmosphere of calm and stability, and to adhere to the instructions and rules regulating the exam process, until most of them end before Eid al-Adha, and to begin correction and control work immediately after the completion of the exam for each subject.
– Based on the strategic direction of Alexandria University to establish international branches in cooperation with prestigious international universities, the Council agreed in principle to establish a branch of the Finnish University on the university’s land in Borg El Arab, and to form a committee headed by the University President, to study all the detailed aspects related to establishing the branch to be an academic complex for international branches. Integrated and smart, capable of attracting Egyptian and foreign students and contributing to the process of growth and development in accordance with the strategic vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Egypt Strategy 2030.
– The Council agreed to establish the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the College of Medicine and take the necessary measures in this regard.
0 The Council approved the establishment of the “Pharmacoeconomics” program at the College of Pharmacy, which is an interprofessional master’s program in which the departments of Pharmaceutics, Clinical Pharmacy, and Pharmaceutical Practice participate.
– The Council approved the establishment of a Master’s program in Dental Implantology, for postgraduate studies at the College of Dentistry, on a credit-hour system.
– The Council approved the establishment of a doctorate program in prosthodontics, for postgraduate studies at the College of Dentistry, on a credit hour system.
– The Council honored Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Advisor to the University President for Health Affairs, on the occasion of his reaching the legal retirement age, wishing him success.
– The Council approved the memorandum of understanding between the University of Alexandria and the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and the memorandum of understanding between the Polytechnic University of Bari in Italy to establish a partnership with some universities in the Mediterranean countries in the field of civil and environmental engineering, lands, construction, chemistry, etc., and the cooperation protocol between the University of Alexandria (Faculty of Law) And the Bar Association, approving in principle the cooperation agreement to be concluded between Alexandria University (Higher Institute of Public Health) and Al-Falah Academy for Health Promotion in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the cooperation protocol between Alexandria University (Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science) and the Institute of Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
– The Council approved the donation submitted by Mrs. Suhair Ibrahim to the Department of Anesthesia and Oncology at the Medical Research Institute, which is a thermal frequency device worth about 1.5 million pounds.
– The Council approved the promotion of 25 faculty members, 10 to the position of professor, 15 to the position of assistant professor, the appointment of 29 teachers, and the granting of 84 doctoral degrees and 100 master’s degrees in various scientific specializations.
