Alexandria University Expert Honoured By Its Graduate Studies And Research Council
The Graduate Studies and Research Council at Alexandria University, in its session held yesterday, honoured Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, in appreciation of his efforts and dedication in developing the graduate studies sector throughout his tenure.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour emphasized his appreciation to all the vice-deans for postgraduate studies and research at Alexandria University, pointing out that the achievements made on the ground in the postgraduate studies and research sector were not the outcome of the effort of only one individual, but rather were a result of the collective efforts of the postgraduate studies and research team at Alexandria University. He affirmed his deep gratitude and appreciation to Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, for his unlimited support for the graduate studies and research, sector to raise the level of scientific research at the university.
El-Ghandour expressed his hope that everyone will continue to perform their work optimally in order to uphold the common interests of the university. He added that what remains in the end is the good impact and reputation, wishing success to whoever assumes responsibility after him to complete the teamwork with his colleagues, stressing his pride as a member of this successful system that performed its role in the best way. At the end of his speech, El-Ghandour expressed his thanks and appreciation to all employees of the sector and everyone who contributed to its progressm including vice-deans, faculty membersm and administrators.
While the Vice-Deans for Graduate Studies and Research thanked Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour for his efforts during his tenure, as he contributed to the development and progress of the graduate studies sector by contributing to solving all its problems, developing and allocating scholarships for graduate students, extending the validity period of academic courses, accelerating procedures for discussing master’s and doctoral theses, increasing the number of supervisors for master’s and doctoral theses, establishing new joint programs, updating regulations to manage postgraduate students, establishing the Alexandria University office for technical and administrative support to researchers, as well as launching the Alexandria University initiative to support researchers with a budget of up to 300,000 Egyptian pounds, increasing funds for publishing scientific papers, opening the new headquarters of the International Scientific Publishing Centre, in addition to developing digital library services, expanding the establishment of scientific journals, setting regulations for scientific research ethics committees, facilitating admission procedures for international students, marketing postgraduate programs to attract international students, and preparing a guide for international students.
* The Council approved the memorandum of cooperation between Alexandria University (Faculty of Physical Education for Girls) and Al Mostakbal University in Iraq (Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences), the framework cooperation agreement between Alexandria University (Faculty of Arts) and Xianda College of Economics & Humanities at Shanghai International Studies University, the joint master’s degree agreement in Biotechnology between Alexandria University (Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research) and Essex University in the United Kingdom, and the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and Bahari University in Sudan.
