Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) Organised “Eid Milan and ICL Grand Finale – 2022”
The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) an associate organization (AO) of ICBF under the aegis of the Embassy of India-Qatar, organised the Eid Milan and Grand Finale of Internal Cricket League (ICL) – 2022 on Tuesday, 03rd May 2022 at the beautiful outdoor venue of the lush green North Atlantic Cricket ground, University of Doha under the managing committee of AMUAAQ presided by Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani.
HE Dr. Deepak Mittal Ambassador of India to Qatar was Chief Guest while Mr. Abdul Rahman EP (President QIA and Chairman Care and Cure group) and Mr. Ravi Shankar (Toastmasters Club Growth Director) attended the program as a guest of honour. Safeer Rahman, Nihad Ali, Mohammed Sayeed , Afrin Khan, Mumtaz Hussain joined as special guests.
India’s ambassador to Qatar, His Excellency Dr. Deepak Mittal wished everyone Eid Mubarak. As a kind gesture, to encourage the players he visited the pitch and tried some classic cricket shots exhibiting his batting skills. Families and children were kept entertained with various fun activities including art competition, musical chairs, passing the parcel and Bingo. Children and all winners were given gifts & prizes.
His Excellency Dr. Deepak Mittal Ambassador of India to Qatar said that he felt great to be a part of this event. His excellency counted AMU Alumni Association Qatar’s achievements in community services, sports as well as education and congratulated the team and appreciated AMU Alumni Association Qatar for their compassion, empathy and brotherhood.
Participants and their family said: “It was really enjoyable event where we met Ambassador of India to Qatar HE Dr. Deepak Mittal and wishing us “Eid Mubarak” was a big proud moment to all of us. Indeed he is “Peoples Ambassador”.
Although AMU Alumni Qatar team outclassed the challengers by winning the final by a handsome margin, It was the victory of Aligarian spirit & Joy of Eid was felt by everyone. AMUAAQ XI won the toss and opted to bat first. AMUAAQ scored 165 for 5 in 15 overs. On the other hand, AMUAAQ Challengers could manage to score 120 runs for 7 in the alloted 15 overs and lost the match by 45 runs. This win would be attributed to the well bowling by the bowlers of AMUAAQ and Man of the match Osama for a fabulous knock of 87 not out. Runner up trophy presented to Captain and Head of sports Farrukh Ali Farooqui & his team by President Dr. Nadeem Jilani while Winner trophy presented to AMUAAQ XI captain – Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash and his Team by Ravi Shankar and AMUAAQ Chairman Jawed Ahmad. Man of the series was presented to Mohammad Nayeem for overall excellent performance in this tournament. All the players, umpires, volunteers were felicitated with certificates. Refreshments were provided by the committee members to all the attendees.
Mr.Ravi Shankar (Club growth director, Toastmasters) requested all the AMU alumni to work towards the benefit of their alma mater and contribute more towards society and skill development. He also mentioned that AMUAAQ contributes a lot towards community services.
Mr. President Dr. Nadeem Jilani welcomed the attendees & their families and introduced the guests. In his discussion said that “Today, we had a great time with so many activities.”, he informed that majority of AMU Alumni members and well wishers demands for one unified AMU Alumni Association in Qatar, so he invited all the alumni and well-wishers to join the Unified AMU Alumni Association Qatar an associate organization of ICBF, Indian Embassy Qatar.
Dr Nadeem appreciated the managing committee coordinators Mohammad Faisal Naseem (VP), Mohammad Farman Khan (GS), Dr. Ashna Nusrat (VP-Ladies) and Heads Mr. Farrukh Ali Farooqi, Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash, Ghazala Yasmeen, Dr. Shima Sadaf , Mohammed Nayeem and Abad khan.
Mohammed Bahauddin Khan spoke about the importance of AMU and their Alumni and mentioned the effectiveness of Alumni for their Alma mater and Indian community while Mohammed Nayeem and Farman Khan briefed about the placement and training for students and alumni.
One of the community leader Mr. Sanjeev Sharma expressed that he is connected with this association since a long time and views it as a good example of unity in diversity. We all are different people belonging to different cultures and landscapes, but we stand together with this esteemed organisation.
Fantastic and fabulous “Eid Milan” organized by AMUAAQ. The ICL grand finale was an added attraction and we all enjoyed it. Icing on the cake was the presence of the people’s Ambassador HE Dr Deepak Mittal and watching him on the ground as the batsman was another captivating moment. AMUAAQ Chairman, Jawed Ahmad Thanked the sponsors and guests, He said as Qatar will host one of the most important global sports events, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and we all unitedly stand and wish Qatar for successful accomplishment of FIFA 2022. Mr Jawed Ahmad once again thanked the Ambassador for their extended support for emergency counsellor service for community and mentioned that on emergency request one of the Canadian passport holder AMU Alumni got the visa within 15 minutes and travelled to India and was able to spend last two weeks with his mother who passed away.
Syed Shahabuddin, Mr. Zarar, Mohammed Sayeed, Rizwan Ahmad, Sanjeev Sharma, Farzan, Omar, Ajmal, Poonam Sharma, Mr. Kafil, Tauhid, Lutfi Kakar, Shafqat Nabi, Irfan, Imamuddin, Ashraf, Irfan Ullah, Mr. Arif and many more community representatives attended and graced the occasion.
The AMU Alumni Association Qatar is a non-profit and socio-cultural organisation committed to promote a sense of brotherhood and foster spirit of community wellness. The forum’s objective is to serve the educational, Welfare, social, literary, sports and cultural needs of the community.
At the end Mohammed Faisal Naseem, Vice President, AMU Alumni Association-Qatar thanked all the attendees and esteemed guests.
