Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor release books

 

Aligarh : The uninterrupted role of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) community as an active voice for the scholarly community continues with the recent release of five books providing insight in a range of subject areas.

Books released by Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor include the UGC Care Listed, ‘Aligarh Journal of Linguistics (AJL)’; ‘Newsletter of Women’s College’; ‘Harf 2020-21’, the student magazine of the Department of Business Administration, ‘Qazi Abdus Sattar Special Number’ of Fikr-o-Nazar and ‘Altaf Hussain Hali, Ilmi wa Adabi Khidmat’ by Dr Aftab Alam Najmi (Department of Urdu).

Prof Mansoor appreciated the efforts of faculty members and editorial teams for bringing out these books.

The 11th volume of the Aligarh Journal of Linguistics (AJL) is a collection of empirical studies reflecting the linguistic diversity of India and demonstrating the correlation between multilingual language proficiency and academic achievements.

“AJL provides a forum for linguistic research by publishing high quality empirical studies from various languages reflecting the linguistic diversity in the country”, said Prof M J Warsi (Chairman, Department of Linguistics and Editor-in-Chief, AJL) during the book release function.

AJL editors, Masood Ali Beg and Dr Nazrin B Laskar said that the faculty members collaborated with research scholars to translate research into publications.

The first issue of ‘Annual Newsletter’ of Women’s College provides a dose of college-related news and information and experiences of dedicated efforts of faculty members in various academic achievements.

“Well written and impactful contents of the Newsletter will give an impetus to the progress and development for future academic activities of the College,” said Prof Naima Khatoon (Principal, Women’s College).

Editorial team members, Dr Naghma Farooqi, Dr Fauzia Usmani and Dr Sadaf Fareed were also present at the Newsletter release function.

On behalf of the Editorial Team, Dr Sadaf Fareed extended the vote of thanks to the contributors of the newsletter.

‘Harf 2020-21’, the student magazine of the Department of Business Administration documenting a range of contributions of faculty members and students from different faculties was also released.

“Shiraz Khan, Kartik Bhaiyaji and Fizza Abbas are in the editorial team of the magazine”, said Prof Salma Ahmed (Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research and Teacher In-Charge of Harf 20-21).

Prof Salma with faculty members, Prof Jamal Ahmad Farooquie (Chairman, Department of Business Administration), Prof Valeed Ahmad Ansari, Prof Feza Tabassum Azmi, (Teacher In-Charge of Harf 2020-21) and Dr Tariq Aziz (Teacher Inch-Charge of Harf 2020-21) attended the book release programme.

At the releasing ceremony of the ‘Qazi Abdus Sattar Special Number’ of Fikr-o-Nazar, Prof Syed Mohammad Hashim (Dean, Faculty of Arts) said that the special edition will provide the readers with a comprehensive understanding on the works of Qazi Abdus Sattar, a prominent short story writer and novelist known especially for historical fiction.

Speaking at the book release function of Dr Aftab Alam Najmi’s ‘Altaf Hussain Hali, Ilmi wa Adabi Khidmat’, Prof Mohd Ali Jauhar (Chairman, Department of Urdu) said that the book sheds light on Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali as an Urdu poet and prose-writer and his special position in Urdu literature.

Prof Syed Mohammad Hashim and Prof Mohd Ali Jauhar attended the releasing ceremony of ‘Qazi Abdus Sattar Special Number’ and ‘Altaf Hussain Hali, Ilmi wa Adabi Khidmat’ with Prof Sufyan Beg, Prof Shahabuddin Saqib, Prof Qamrul Huda Faridi, Prof Zia ur Rehman Siddiqui, Prof Syed Sirajuddin Ajmali, Dr Syed M Nauman Tariq and Prof Naima Khatoon.
