Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor release hall magazines

Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor released the ‘First Gazette (2019-22)’ of the Begum Azizun Nisa Hall and ‘House of Aligs’, the centenary issue of the Sir Syed Hall (South) in a special ceremony at his office today.

“The ‘First Gazette (2019-22)’ of the Begum Azizun Nisa Hall features an article on the life and works of Begum Azeezun Nisa, mother of AMU founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. The Gazette also comprises commentaries on the work of Sir Syed on female education, documented details of the establishment of Begum Azizun Nisa Hall, academic and co-curricular achievements of the resident students”, said Prof Subuhi Khan (Provost, Begum Azizun Nisa Hall).

She added that the readers can leaf through the pages of the Gazette to trace the journey of the residential hall from a barren land to a hostel surrounded by thousands of trees.

The Editor, Dr Fauzia Faridi and Co-Editors, Dr Ghazala Yasmin and Rabab Khan and other members of the editorial board said, “This magazine is a resource for students to learn the history of Begum Azizun Nisa Hall, the university and the landmark student and faculty achievements.

“House of Aligs, the centenary issue of the Sir Syed Hall (South) will engage attention of readers interested in knowing about AMU history from its inception as the MAO College to 100 years as a university with articles written by students and faculty in the English, Hindi and Urdu languages”, said Prof Baddrudujja Khan (Hall Provost) while attending the release ceremony with Dr Abdul Aziz Khan (Residential Warden) and Md Ehtashamul Islam Khan (Editor-in-Chief).

Mohd Ghazali is the editor of the ‘House of Aligs’ English Section. Naseem Uddin and Mohd Salman are the respective Hindi and Urdu editors.

Extending congratulations, Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor said, “I wish the residents of Begum Azizun Nisa Hall and Sir Syed Hall (South) the very best in the years to come and commend the hard work of the respective provosts, wardens and the editorial teams for bringing out these magazines”.
