Aligarh : The Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University Centre Jangipur, Murshidabad organized a one- day online Webinar on “Higher Education in Law – Prospects and Preparations” recently.
The keynote speaker Prof Mohammad Tariq, (Dept. of Law, AMU), talked about the opportunities in higher education in law and mentioned some prominent institutes offering PG and research programmes. He said that NEP-2020 aims to transform all educational institutes to become multi-disciplinary by 2030 in a phased manner and around 3.5 crore new seats for the students which will take up the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) to 50% from the current 27%.
In his inaugural address Dr Nigamananda Biswas (Director In-charge of the Centre), highlighted the present scenario pertaining to higher education in India. He discussed the findings of All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-20 report which shows that India is doing well in the last 5 years in the (GER) of the students in higher education.
The guest speaker of the day Mr Panch Rishi Dev Sharma, Assistant Professor Dept of Law, University of Lucknow and Research Scholar, University of Victoria, Canada focused on the transformation that higher education in India needs today. He talked about making higher education in law a multi-disciplinary domain where law can be combined with other subjects.
In his welcome address, Mr Asif (Course Coordinator In-charge, Dept of Law, AMUCJM), expressed his gratitude towards all the participants of the program.
The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Mohammad Saleem (Assistant Professor, Dept of Law and Convener of the webinar).
