Aligarh Muslim University launched a series of workshops, Career Caravan

ALIGARH : The Training and Placement Office (General), Aligarh Muslim University launched a series of workshops, Career Caravan, for the professional development of the students of various faculties.

Addressing the inaugural function, the chief guest, Prof. Mohd. Asim Siddiqui, Chairperson, Department of English, said it is necessary for the learners to know about the technicalities of the corporate world and various career issues and challenges for their future career prospects.

He stressed the importance of developing writing and communication skills to achieve success in professional life. He appreciated the overwhelming participation of female students in the event as volunteers and participants, and praised the efforts of the Training and Placement Office.

Earlier, welcoming the guests and participants, Mr. Saad Hameed, Training and Placement Officer, highlighted the salient features and objectives of the Career Caravan, covering various aspects of career orientation programmes, including the prospects for higher education in foreign universities, developing academic writing skills, and career opportunities in public sector.

Mr. Fainan Khwaja, Vice President, Cambay Healthcare discussed the kind of talents that are needed in the corporate world and what one should do to get acquainted with those traits. He urged the students to work on polishing their behavioural skills before applying for a corporate position. He said it is important for the students to learn how to organize their priorities, channelize their observation and put forward their viewpoint.

Mr. Ahmad Faraz talked at length about how to utilize the online platforms, especially the LinkedIn, to get the best of opportunities according to their qualifications and capabilities.

He stressed the importance of updating one’s profile on the online job platforms and tailor his or her CV according to the job requirements mentioned by the recruiters.

Dr. Mohd. Arif, Department of Social Work, briefly guided the students how to face a job interview.

Mr. Muzammil Mushtaq gave a talk on the essentials for a job interview, mentioning the significant points while writing an impressive CV. He urged the students to be precise, clear and professionally impressive while mentioning key accomplishments, skills and all that speaks for you to the recruiters.

Dr. Suhalia Parveen spoke on how to prepare for a job interview and how to present self in such interviews.

The participants took part in the interactive session with their queries and responses from the resource persons.

Sadia Sabir, a TPO volunteer, conducted the programme and extended a vote of thanks.
