Aligarh Muslim University mourns demise of Dr Arshad Ahmad

 

Aligarh : Distinguished retired faculty member of the Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Dr Arshad Ahmad passed away after a brief illness. He was the brother-in-law of renowned AMU alumnus and USA based entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and civic leader, Dr Frank F Islam.

Extending condolences, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said that Dr Ahmad was a sincere teacher. His demise is a personal loss for him and a big loss to the university community.

“He had a wide following among students and colleagues,” said the Vice Chancellor.

Prof Bhanu Prakash Singh (Chairman, Department of Physics) said that it is sad to know that Dr Ahmad has passed away, it is a huge loss and my thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.

Dr Ahmad published papers in peer-reviewed journals, wrote book chapters and edited books. He taught the Ph.D, graduate and post-graduate students.

He is survived by a son and two daughters. His son, Shariq lives and works in the US and elder daughter, Nigar lives in Saudia Arabia. His younger daughter, Shama resides in Aligarh.
