Aligarh Muslim University mourns demise of Professor Shadab A Khan

 

Aligarh : Renowned physician and Chairman, Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Professor Shadab A Khan passed away after a brief illness.

“My heart aches after hearing about the sad demise of Prof Shadab. He was an incredible and undoubtedly one of the most caring faculty members I have ever met”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.

He added that the sad demise is a personal loss to him.

“Under Prof Shadab’s tutelage, students thrived and through his leadership as a senior faculty member, younger teachers and doctors made great educational and professional strides”, said Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Dean, Faculty of Medicine).

Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal, JNMC) said that Prof Shadab will always be remembered for his advocacy for the finest healthcare attainable for all and unmatched sagacity as a doctor and exemplary services at the JNMC.

Prof Shadab joined JNMC as a Clinical Registrar in 1990 and was appointed as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in 1992. He was promoted to the position of an Associate Professor and then eventually to the position of a Professor.

He has also worked as a medical specialist and Rheumatologist at tertiary care Al-Amiri Hospital in Kuwait.

Prof Shadab published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, wrote book chapters, and edited books.

He is survived by wife, son and a daughter.
