Aligarh Muslim University: New Block extension inaugurated

Aligarh: The extension of the New Block, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery to house a sophisticated skill lab and chambers for faculty members was inaugurated at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in a special function conducted online to comply with the Government of India Guidelines on social distancing.

Inaugurating the extension, Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said that the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has been carrying out exemplary work despite the Covid 19 outbreak and providing affordable medicine to economically weaker sections of society.

He added that the department successfully adopted all the preventive measures to curb the spread of virus among healthcare providers and patients admitted in the wards.

Prof Naiyer Asif (Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery) informed that the newly inaugurated extension comprises a dedicated skill lab for postgraduate students and four chambers for the faculty members.

Prof R Maheshwari (Dean, Faculty of Medicine) and Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal, JNMC) also attended the programme.

Prof Mazhar Abbas extended the vote of thanks.
