Aligarh Muslim University organized an Interactive Meeting of students with Mr. Harbans Singh former DG of GSI

 

Aligarh: The Career Counselling Committee of the Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University organized an Interactive Meeting of students with Mr. Harbans Singh, Ex-Director General of Geological Survey of India (GSI), an alumnus of the department in the Audio-Visual Hall. ¬

Addressing the students, Mr. Harbans Singh, discussed the functioning of GSI and job opportunities associated with it. He also highlighted GSI’s role in the field of mapping and mineral exploration.

Mr. Singh said that for the exploration of concealed deposits, the integration of geological, geophysical and geochemical surveys are needed and GSI is engaged in bringing up such research projects and plans. He urged students to join GSI and contribute in nation’s development in a big way.

Earlier, welcoming the guest, Prof. Abu Talib, Chairman of the Department presented a short introduction of Mr. Harbans Singh.

During the interactive session, the students sought information about the various key players in the field of geological research and career options available with the GSI. The students who had qualified the written examination for the post of Geologist also took suggestions from Mr. Singh for interview.
