Aligarh Muslim University organized Webinar on library services

Aligarh: The Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University, under its weekly lecture series, organized an online lecture on “Innovative Technologies of 21st Century: Time for Redesigning Library Services”.

Delivering the lecture, Prof Dinesh K Gupta, Department of Library and Information Science, Kurukshetra University, Haryana underlined the changing paradigm of Library and Information Science services based on the electronic transformation and digital revolution. He said that a positive attitude towards ICT will help library professionals in providing smart services to users. He said that systems and services like NFC, QR Codes, Electronic Display System, Scan Marker Air (for Visually Impaired persons), maker spaces, drone delivery of books, robotics in libraries, etc., can be used in effective services of the libraries.

Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Dr M Masoom Raza, Chairperson, Department of Library and Information Science said it will facilitate learning and imparting of the skills and competencies through online platforms.

In his concept note, Dr Muzamil Mushtaq, Coordinator of the webinar series, said that rapid changes are occurring in the ICT interfaces and platforms and the library professionals need to be competent enough to knob and deliver the best of the services to the users.
