Aligarh Muslim University refutes Harsh Mander’s claim

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University today strongly refuted the claim of Mr Harsh Mander that the Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor had refused to meet the team of 13 activists who were part of the fact finding committee.

Releasing the report on AMU, Mr Harsh Mander made this false claim and it was carried by a section of the press. It is contrary to the fact as the Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor was away to Delhi to participate in a conference of Central University Vice Chancellors chaired by the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind. The Vice Chancellor’s office did not receive any formal request and it is clearly an attempt to tarnish the image of the Vice Chancellor and the university.

The university officials including the Registrar, Controller, Proctor and others have had a meeting with the team that lasted more than an hour. The willful repression of the facts is highly deplorable, the university spokesperson asserted.
