Aligarh Muslim University, VC inaugurates new sales outlet of Publications Division
Aligarh: Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, on Sunday inaugurated the new Sales Outlet of the Publications Division, (AMU) at Shamshad Market of the city.
The outlet will provide for sale of various books published by Publications Division/Sir Syed Academy, which also includes books written by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, founder of the university.
Besides books, AMU?s calendar, annual diary, coffee-table book and souvenirs such as Tie, Cuff Links, and Mug with AMU Monogram etc are also available at the new sales outlet. These items serve as good memento and rekindle memories of AMU.
The outlet has been opened for general public and AMU fraternity in the main Shamshad Market after their persistent demand for easy availability of the books published by the University and memorabilia associated with AMU.
The outlet will remain open from Monday to Saturday between 5 pm to 9 pm, and on Sunday between 11 am to 3 pm. It will however remain closed on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor hoped that the outlet will be beneficial for those who are interested in the Aligarh Movement and its history.
It will also provide assistance to the students, researchers and the people in general, added Prof Mansoor.
On the occasion Vice Chancellor also released a pictorial catalogue, published by Publications Division.
“Publications Division offers twenty percent discount on its text books, whereas twenty-five percent discount is offered on general books”, informed Prof Ali Mohammad Naqvi, Director, Publications Division.
“On purchase of 10-24 copies of assorted books, thirty percent discount is offered, while thirty-three percent discount is offered on 25-49 copies of assorted books. A discount of 40% is available on purchase of 50-100 copies of assorted books”, he added.
He further said that discount for purchasing more than 100 assorted books is negotiable for all general books. Catalogue of the Publications Division is available on its page on AMU?s website.
During the inaugural function, Prof Ali Mohammad Naqvi (Director,Sir Syed Academy and Publications Divistion), Dr Mohammad Shahid (Dy Director, Sir Syed Academy and Publications Divison), Prof A R Kidwai (Director, UGC-HRD Centre), Prof Hafiz Ilyas, Prof SM Jawed Akhtar (Finance Officer), Prof Aftab Alam, Prof Shakeel Ahmad Samdani (Dean, Faculty of Law), Prof Moin Uddin, Prof Rihan ( MIC Electricity), Prof Z A Siddiqui (MIC Land and Garden), Dr SH Haider and other officials of the university were also present.
