Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor releases ‘Jame-Al Bahrain’

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today released, ‘Jame-Al Bahrain’, a book containing erudite essays, research work, reviews and commentary on the works of Professor Obaidullah Fahad, Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies.

The book, which has been compiled by Prof Masood Ahmad Falahi, Chairman, Department of Arabic, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University, Lucknow has contributions by noted scholars on Prof Fahad’s work on Islamic history, culture and diplomacy, literary styles of Holy Quran, approaches to Islamic revivalism, religious polity, orientalism and Islamic Sociology among other topics.

Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor remarked that Prof Fahad’s work brings together the importance of religion with the modern world.

“Prof Fahad has indeed opened doors to the innermost domains of Islam with his astute commentary on the Muslim world, examining of revivalism, role of Muslims from all over the world and religious co-existence between people of all religious communities,” he added.

Prof Mansoor pointed out that the Departments of Islamic Studies, Theology, Urdu and Arabic are major knowledge centres of AMU.

Prof M Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui, Prof M Saud Alam Qasmi, Prof Abu Sufyan Islahi, Prof M Sami Akhtar and Dr Zia Uddin Falahi also spoke on the occasion.
